Fitbit Charge first week

I have been wearing my Fitbit Charge on my non-dominant wrist everyday. I only take it off when I shower, for charging, and a few workouts where something on my wrists either feels uncomfortable or is in the way. It feels like you are just wearing a watch. It is comfortable and generally does not get in the way except when noted above. iPhone app works well. Screenshot below.

Fitness journey so far

I began my fitness journey a little over 3 years ago. At 5’7′, 205lbs, 47 years old. I bought a copy of Power 90 on VHS years earlier buy never really stuck with it.

With fresh motivation, I radically improved my diet and started with Power 90. After 4 months I lost 40lbs. Another 2 months later I was down an additional 15 lbs. Still 5’7″, 150-155 lbs for 3 years.

All exercise done with Beachbody programs and healthy eating.

My program progression:

Power 90 Master series – 2 rounds
P90X – 2 rounds
Insanity – 1 round
P90X/Insanity hybrid – 2 rounds
Focus T25
P90X3 Doubles
P90X3 Elite Doubles – current as of May 2014

Next: Body Beast/P90X3 hybrid

Weight lose time

Well, I finally had enough. No more procrastinating on getting fit and losing weight.

I have been doing Power 90 (not P90X) off and on for awhile but never really changed my diet. This equals no real change. I recently read The “The Dukan Diet” by Dr. Pierre Dukan. I like his very structured approach. I usually want to start new diet or exercise programs at the beginning of the week or the beginning of the month, maybe the middle. I was planned to start August 1st 2011. No more waiting and making excuses. Starting today July 28th 2011, Thursday.

Details and tracking will follow.

I have been trying out different desktop layouts using GeekTool 3.0

Next update I will reduce what’s displayed. Date, Time, Calendar, Top 20 %CPU, and Weather should me enough. Although I do like Network, Uptime, Computer Info. I will remove Sunrise, standard calendar, This day in History feed, and my age since birth.

Book reading for 2011

I am still reading books working toward my reading challenges. Check Books tab or Read in 2011 sub tab for more info. I have been out-of-town off and on since last Christmas so I am getting behind on writing the actual book reviews. I will work on getting caught up by end of the month. I will need to read at least six books a month to keep on track with my reading goals.

2011 book reading list

I am not going to pick or post a dedicated list of books that I am going to read this year. I want flexibility to change my mind as the year progresses.
The main fiction genres that I am reading for 2011 are horror, hard-boiled crime, steampunk, various sci-fi, and some classics. I will also read a few non-fiction books as well, history, adventure, or business subjects.
