Fitness goal

1st GOAL: 165lbs by November 1st, 2011 – my 48th birthday

Weight lose time

Well, I finally had enough. No more procrastinating on getting fit and losing weight.

I have been doing Power 90 (not P90X) off and on for awhile but never really changed my diet. This equals no real change. I recently read The “The Dukan Diet” by Dr. Pierre Dukan. I like his very structured approach. I usually want to start new diet or exercise programs at the beginning of the week or the beginning of the month, maybe the middle. I was planned to start August 1st 2011. No more waiting and making excuses. Starting today July 28th 2011, Thursday.

Details and tracking will follow.

Reading challenges update

I have been a bit of a slacker when it comes to posting my book reading. Check my LibraryThing page for current and past books for 2011. I have been keeping LibraryThing up-to-date. I should get this blog current in a few days. Definitely a learning experience trying to read 52+ books this year and actually post simple reviews. Reading – no problem. Posting reviews – I failed. Maybe I can refocus the second half of 2011 and follow through.

GeekTool desktop

I have been trying out different desktop layouts using GeekTool 3.0

Next update I will reduce what’s displayed. Date, Time, Calendar, Top 20 %CPU, and Weather should me enough. Although I do like Network, Uptime, Computer Info. I will remove Sunrise, standard calendar, This day in History feed, and my age since birth.

I finally got a 5th gen iPod Nano

I continued to randomly check the refurbished iPod section of the Apple Store. On Feb 1st about 12:30 a.m. the Apple Store was almost fully stocked on 5th gen iPod Nanos. I quickly went through the purchase procedure. This time everything went smoothly and completed. Of course now there are many 6th gen iPod Nanos available. I still prefer the 5th gen nano and also like my old 3rd gen nano.

Selling 1960 Triumph TR3A

Reluctantly, I am putting my 1960 Triumph TR3A up for sale. $12,000

Frame-off restoration with new everything except for engine and transmission. Paint, body, and chassis are in excellent condition – BRG with black interior. Panasport wheels. Car runs well. The TR3A has been stored in my garage for past 7 years. Has original black California plates. Currently registered non-op. All reasonable offers considered.

Picture and more details coming soon.

iPod Nano 5th gen

I have been thinking about getting a refurbished iPod Nano 5th gen from the Apple Store. They were plentiful before last Christmas. Now they are hard to find, which makes sense since it is a previous model. I check the Apple Store periodically for availability on refurbished iPods.

Well, this morning, to my surprise, the Apple Store had an almost full selection of 5th gen iPod Nanos in the refurb section. Great, I thought, I can finally get one. I selected the color I wanted and clicked add to cart. Nothing happened. It turns out that in the minute or two I took to decide and process the order Apple sold out. I selected my second color choice and successfully added the iPod to my cart. Then I went to process my order and verify my credit card. In the less than a minute time that went by Apple sold out again. I wrongfully thought that if an item was in your cart that you had saved/allocated selected item until finish processing.

I will still continue to check availability. The hope of actually getting one is not good. I could try craigslist, but that is too iffy.

Book reading for 2011

I am still reading books working toward my reading challenges. Check Books tab or Read in 2011 sub tab for more info. I have been out-of-town off and on since last Christmas so I am getting behind on writing the actual book reviews. I will work on getting caught up by end of the month. I will need to read at least six books a month to keep on track with my reading goals.

Book reviews

My book reviews will be basic and structured. There are already numerous websites and other resources to get detailed book reviews. Anyone is welcome to comment on any book I read.
Review structure will include:
